To See & Do

We’re a little biased, but we think that Kaikoura is one of the most beautiful places in Aotearoa New Zealand. A place where the mountains rise to heights of 2600m and the undersea canyon plunges to depths of over 1200m very near to shore.

We feel lucky to be able to live here and share our slice of paradise with you. During your stay at Awatea Country B&B, you might like to get out and explore some of the many things you can see and do here. Please do ask if you’d like some help booking activities during your stay.

Whale Watching

Create unforgettable memories any time of the year by going whale watching - one of the activities that Kaikōura is most famous for.  Spot Giant Sperm Whales, high-spirited Dusky Dolphins, rare and endangered Hectors Dolphin, New Zealand Fur Seals and a variety of sea birds such as the Royal Albatross. Whale watching cruises are the most popular option, but you can also charter a helicopter for an aerial view.
