Alison warmly welcomes you to Awatea Country Bed and Breakfast at Hapuku, just minutes from Kaikoura.
Born in New Plymouth in the middle of last century (sounds intriguing) she spent a wonderfully idyllic childhood near Ngamotu Beach.
After many years as a teacher and a short foray into the world of Real Estate, she moved to Kaikoura in 2002 after purchasing her little piece of heaven near Hapuku.
Awatea means new beginnings and that is exactly what this place has been for Alison, a new life in beautiful Kaikoura, where the mountains meet the sea. She belongs to the Lions Club of Seaward Kaikoura, a group of amazing women who achieve great things through teamwork, teaches three days a fortnight at Hapuku School, less than a kilometre up the main road and has time to spend with her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter, who live near Rangiora.
Paula and Dave live in a sleepout on the property and help around the place.
Alison shares her farmlet with four dogs, Maggie, Dude, Kai and Spot, one Kunekune pig, Jennifer Lo Pig, five horses at present (they come and go), five sheep, one goat, Miss Billy, one cat, Missy, and sundry hens and bantams.

The hens lay beautiful free range eggs, some of which are found and others remain hidden in the pine trees.
We are a friendly bunch at Awatea!

Life is never dull ...
